1. How do I install SafeKiddie for Android?

Parent Phone:

Find SafeKiddie on the the Google Play Store to download, click here.

  1. Click Install
  2. Click Accept
  3. Click Open
  4. You will be asked to login with your account credentials
  5. If you don’t have an account you can create one or scroll to the bottom and click on "I already have an account"
  6. Once you are signed in you will be asked to choose our Role (Who will be using it and then on next screen you should specifiy what is your role in the family)
  7. You can then Add Child. Select the Child you want protected on the device.
  8. The SafeKiddie settings will then update and apply to your phone
  9. You will need to turn on SafeKiddie access as well as Device Administrator during the install
  10. Once those settings are done SafeKiddie will Initialize.

2. Which versions of Android does SafeKidie support?

SafeKiddie for Android is currently compatible with Android versions 5 (Lollypop) and later. A version of SafeKiddie is under development and will be released soon.

4. Will SafeKiddie work on any Android phone or tablet?

SafeKiddie for Android is compatible with all versions of Android 5 (Lollypop) and greater. Most devices that run Android version 5 or greater will generally meet the hardware (CPU) requirement also. If you experience a compatibility issue with your device please notify us at [email protected]

You can check the version of Android on most devices by selecting Settings > About Phone/Device > Software Information. If your version of Android is below 5, you may be able to update it by choosing "Software Updates" (often also in the "About Phone/Device" section), then selecting "Check Now" to force the device to immediately check for updates.

To check your CPU, download the app Quick System Info.

5. How much disk space will SafeKiddie use on my Android device?

The SafeKiddie for Android app currently uses approximately 25 MB of space on the mobile device it is protecting.

6. How do I make changes to SafeKiddie settings once its installed?

After the initial installation, you can make changes to the settings for your protected Android device(s) from any web browser. You do not need to have the protected device in your hand to view or change its settings. Simply launch the App on Parent phone and go to "Settings" from the top left corner of the page.

7. Can I prevent my child from accessing a specific website with SafeKiddie for Android?

Yes.From Parent App, please go to Configure Tab and then select "Website Monitor" and you will see all the websites that your child has watched and you want want him/her to have access. Now click on the cogwheel agains the website link  that you want to block. You will presented with 2 options: Allow and Block. Please select Block.

8. Can I block Facebook and YouTube with SafeKiddie for Android?

Yes.From Parent App, please go to Configure Tab and then select "App Controller" and you will see all the App that your child has downloaded and you want want him/her to have access. Now click on the cogwheel agains the website link  that you want to block. You will presented with 2 options: Allow and Block. Please select Block.

Safekiddie for Android will filter and block any content that is viewed via the SafeKiddie for Android web browser. Furthermore, a rule can be created to block entire sites such as YouTube or Facebook.

9. Can't my kids just install or use another mobile browser to get around SafeKiddie?

Once installed, SafeKidie for Android will block all other Internet browsers from launching. If a user attempts to launch a browser other than the SafeKiddie browser, they will receive a message stating, "SafeKiddie has blocked this application," and they will be given the option to launch the SafeKiddie browser instead. This protection applies to all browsers installed before and after the installation of SafeKiddie for Android.

10. What will prevent a user from uninstalling the SafeKiddie for Android application?

SafeKiddie for Android has built-in removal prevention. Removal of the SafeKiddie app or any other app is username/password protected and requires a SafeKiddie Administrator password before allowing the application to be uninstalled. The Administrator password is the one you used when creating your SafeKiddie for Android account. An Administrator username/password is also required to access other areas within SafeKiddie, which could potentially allow a user to uninstall or disable SafeKiddie, such as Application Management or Running Processes.

11. What is the difference between the free trial and the paid version of SafeKiddie for Android?

The SafeKiddie for Android app can be installed for free from various mobile software markets or from our website. The free trial version of the software is fully-featured and will operate for 7 days. During the installation process you can select to purchase SafeKiddie for Android. You can also purchase at any time during the trial by clicking on the "Buy Now" button in the top right corner of the Administration Console. Finally, you can purchase SafeKiddie for Android directly.

12. When I make a change to the settings for SafeKidie in the Administration Console, how long before it is applied to the phone or tablet that the software is protecting?

Changes made in the Administration Console to the settings of SafeKidie for Android are applied within a minute to the device — if the device is connected to Internet. If a device is not connected to the Internet, the changes are immediately applied the next time the device connects to the Internet.

13. Will SafeKidie For Android work on WiFi, 3G & 4G?

Yes. SafeKidie For Android will filter web pages over WiFi , 3G, 4G and EDGE networks.

14. Will SafeKidie For Android work on the Kindle Fire?

We are working on Kindle compatible product and very soon our users should be able to use SafeKidie on their Amazon Kindle.

15. How do I uninstall Safekiddie for Android?

SafeKidie for Android has multiple levels of password protection to prevent an unauthorized user from uninstalling the software. To uninstall the SafeKidie for Android on your mobile device, you must first remove SafeKidie as a Device Administrator in Android System Settings. Once SafeKidie has been removed as a Device Administrator go to “Settings,” then “Applications” then “Manage Applications,” choose “SafeKidie"  from the list of installed applications and then select “Uninstall.” This process will prompt you for the SafeKidie Administrator password before the software can be removed from your mobile device.
